Malaco Records recording artist Wayne Toups was recently featured on the television show Weekends With Whitney. He is one of the most successful Cajun musicians of all time and a true innovator. He has blended a wide range of genres such as Cajun, Zydeco, R&B, Country and Rock into the eclectic sound that he has dubbed “Zydecajun”.
Toups has led a fascinating career that has seen him performing at the 1990 Super Bowl, winning a Grammy in 2013 for Best Regional Roots Album and playing on records with esteemed artists such as Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, George Jones and Mark Chesnutt.
His high energy stage performances and personal flair have earned him the nickname “Le Boss, The Cajun Springsteen”. In addition to his own work, he has mentored several rising superstars including Hunter Hayes. His efforts don’t end with being a musician, he has also been instrumental in raising funding and awareness about the recent Louisiana flooding.
