Patrick Green counts Al Green, Luther Vandross and the Temptations among his role models, along with grittier soul men such as Willie Clayton, the late Buddy Ace and his fellow Houstonian, the late Mel Waiters. His vocals, smooth and buttermilk rich, but spiked with smoldering sensual heat, hark back to the legendary soul balladeers, yet, his songs also bespeak a modern day soul (or “urban contemporary”) aesthetic.
