The Rose Brothers consisting of real-life brothers Bobby, Greg, Larry, and Kenny Rose were an American R&B and Southern soul vocal quartet that gained prominence during the mid-to-late 1980s. Hailing from Rochester, New York, the group stood out in an era dominated by synthesized urban pop by preserving the raw emotion, gospel-rooted phrasing, and tight family harmonies characteristic of classic Southern soul.

In the mid-1980s, the quartet caught the attention of Jackson, Mississippi-based Malaco Records, often dubbed “The Last Soul Company.” Malaco signed the group to its newly acquired Muscle Shoals Sound Records imprint.

Working closely with producer, arranger, and songwriter Charles “Rich” Cason as well as legendary soul songwriter Jimmy Lewis the Rose Brothers crafted a sound that bridged modern late-80s R&B production with traditional, church-honed lead vocals.

The Rose Brothers remain a staple on Southern R&B radio stations and the Chitlin’ Circuit. Today, their catalog remains highly regarded among deep soul collectors, European Northern Soul enthusiasts, and classic R&B purists as a prime example of 1980s Southern soul vocal mastery.
